Amos Ray Burks Jr., 56, resident of "Gulfport, MS, passed away, January 6, 2015 in Diamondhead, MS. Amos was born in Hattiesburg, MS, September 29, 1956; the son of Amos Burks, Sr.; Stepfather, S.C. Burns and Mother Mary Burns. Amos attended Rowann High school in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and was married to Mary Durr in Gulfport, MS- At Greater Bible Fellowship Church in 2000. Amos spent his working career in Panama City, Florida working in Construction. Amos Burks, also known as �Fatjug" was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Durr Burks, daughter: Hovettie Burks-Smith Father- Amos Burks Sr., sister, Beverly Deloris Presley; nephew, Melvin Presley, uncles, Robert Hands and Richard Hands, and an aunt Mary Moore; Amos is survived by three brothers: Sonny Hands (Margret), Melvin Presley(Brushaun) of Gulfport, MS, and Larry Presley(Arlene) of Panama City, Florida; five sisters: Gloria Hands, Linda Presley, Mary Davis(Berry) of Gulfport, Mississippi; Pamela Jayne (Ronnie) of Panama City, Florida and Hovettie Presley of Florala, Alabama; Amos was the father of 5 wonderful children; three daughters: Kiana Young (Jermaine) of Dallas, Texas, Beverly Smith and Ashley Martin of Gulfport, Mississippi; two sons: Amos Blanks of Hattiesburg, MS and Amos Burks III of Panama City, FL. He also leaves to cherish his memory, 11 grandkids and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Amos Ray Burks, Jr.; will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Greater Love Fellowship Baptist Church, 3706 West Railroad Street, Gulfport, Mississippi 39501.
