Mrs. Annie Ruth Stewart was surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 as she was called home to be with her Lord and Savior. Although her family's hearts are broken, their faith remains strong. Mrs. Stewart was a life long resident of Biloxi, MS and a faithful member of the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church of D'Iberville, MS. Mrs. Stewart retired from the Popp�s Ferry Elementary School as a cook. She worked faithfully in several restaurants along the Mississippi Gulf Coast for many years as an avid chef. She was also a faithful member of the Gospel Choir, Biloxi Community Choir, and Senior Mission. She was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Stewart was a caring, thoughtful, compassionate, and a considerate woman of infinite integrity and love and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Annie Ruth was born in Tylertown, MS to the late Mr.& Mrs. Green (Dixie) Singleton. She grew up in this community and was married to the late Mr. Whalon Stewart. To this union eight children were born. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Green Singleton; her husand, Mr. Whalon Stewart, and her son Mr. Whalon Donald Stewart, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories eight children which include six daughters: Glenda (Larry) Morgan and Carolyn (Alfred) Lewis of Gulfport, MS; Janice (Renard)Brooks and Tynita (Kelly) Steele of Gautier, MS;Lisa Stewart-Nichols and Lynn Stewart of Mobile, AL; two sons: Mr. Kara (Christie) Stewart of Gambrills, MD and Mr. Robert (Celeste) Dixon of Inglewood,CA. One devoted sister, LaDoris (EL) Smith of New Orleans, LA, four brothers; Vody D. Singleton of New Orleans, LA, Mr. LoVern (Shirley) Singleton of Pontiac, MI; James K. Singleton of Biloxi, MS and Jerry Singleton of Tylertown, MS. Three sisters-in-law; Mrs. Angela Stewart of Biloxi, MS; Mrs. Audrey (William) Gayden of New Orleans, LA and Ms. Clara Stewart of Chicago, IL. She has 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and several long time friends. She has a special friend, Mr. Allen Young. Funeral services will be held in D'Iberville at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. Kenneth M. Davis, pastor, Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation one hour before. Interment will follow at Monroe Memorial in Gulfport, MS. The family of Mrs. Annie Ruth Stewart has entrusted her arrangements to the caring, professional staff of RICHMOND-AUGUST FUNERAL HOME.
