Rev. Arthur Scott, Jr., 87, passed peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Saturday, July 18 2015 at 3:41 AM at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS. He was born October 5, 1927 to Arthur Scott, Sr. and Beatrice Roberson in Harrison County, Mississippi in the town of North Gulfport. Rev. Arthur Scott was a man of faith and an ordained Baptist preacher who enjoyed the traditional Sunday Dinner with all the fixings--and chicken. At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his own personal savior and lord and served as an Associate Minister at Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorship of Lee J. Adams, Jr. In his life of ministry, he served also as an Associate Minister at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Sora City, MS, and at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in North Gulfport, Mississippi. Rev. Arthur Scott was a simple man who embraced life until the end. As a young man, he was employed as a longshoreman in Gulfport. Some years later, he became gainfully employed at Mississippi Power Company, a Southern Company, at the Jack Watson Plant in Gulfport, Mississippi. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Augustine Belvin Scott; son, Clarence Hodges; sisters, Marie Gray and Bertha Towner. Rev. Arthur Scott is survived by stepdaughters, Vanessa Smith, Lucinda Edwards, Regina MaGee, Patricia Silva-Mujica, Brenda Brown; stepsons, Clarence Smith and Jestro Anderson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
