Carl McGowen

Carl McGowen, a dedicated Trauma Therapist at Gulf Coast Psychotherapy, passed away on March 27, 2024, in Biloxi, MS. He was born on March 5, 1966, in Newfane, NY. Carl was proud of his Native American heritage and was a member of the Six Nations Cayuga tribe. He held a Master's degree in Social Work from Pittsburgh University and was known for his commitment to the community he served.

Throughout his career, Carl worked tirelessly to support U.S. veterans and was particularly proud of his accomplishments in this field. His 12 years of sobriety stand as a testament to his strength and resilience. Colleagues remember him as a hardworking individual with a kind heart and generous spirit.

In his personal life, Carl was a loving and giving person who always prioritized the needs of others. Despite being described as stubborn at times, his unwavering dedication to helping those around him left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Carl is survived by his beloved wife Crystal McGowen, his daughters Melissa Sandusky, Carly McGowen, and Therasa McGowen, as well as his brothers John Skye and Richard Skye. He also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren.

A Memorial Service to honor and remember the life of Carl McGowen will be held on April 13, 2024, starting at 3:00 PM at Crossroads Church Of The Nazarene located at 6150 Firestone St, Ocean Springs, MS 39564. The service will be a reflection of the compassion and dedication that defined Carl's life.

A Memorial Service to honor the life of Carl McGowen will be held on April 13th at Crossroads Church Of The Nazarene in Ocean Springs, MS. The service is scheduled to take place from 3:00 PM. Friends are invited to bring a covered dish and join in a potluck meal immediately following the service. 

Carl McGowen's memory will live on through the countless lives he touched and the legacy of compassion and service he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.
