Carla Ann Hawthorne, 50, a resident of Spring, TX, passed away on December 25, 2014 at Kindred Hospital in Houston, TX. She was born at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS on January 14, 1964 to D. W. Ware and Johnnie Ware Thompson. She attended North Gulfport Elementary and graduated from John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City, OK. Carla honorably served her country as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy, where she received the training and skills she used later to help many of her family and friends. She had many hobbies, but most loved cooking and entertaining. Carla had an infectious smile and a big heart. She never met a stranger and often opened her home to anyone in need. As a transplant recipient, she was a volunteer and advocate for transplant patients & their families. She was a proud participant and "Gold Medal" winner in the Transplant Games. Carla was preceded in death by her Father, D. W. Ware. She is survived by her Mother, Johnnie Jewel Thompson; her Husband, Reginald Hawthorne; Daughter, Brittney Alexandria Ervin; Son, Kevin Gregory Ervin; One Beloved Grand Daughter, Madison Nycole Ervin. Two Stepchildren, Nicholas LaVonn Hawthorne & Kelli Blair Hawthorne. One Sister, Germaine (Schulyer) Stapleton; Three Brothers, Tracy (Brenda) Ware; Wesley Ware and John Thompson II. One Step-Brother, Reginald Treadwell; One Step-Sister, LaShaun Fant. One God Daughter, Jamie Smith. Special friends, NarQuita Ross-Beverly, Perette Irby and Gilberetta Moore and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Carla Ann Hawthorne will be held Friday, January 2, 2015, 11:00am at Washington Chapel CME Church. Viewing will be at the church from 10:00 - 11:00am.
