Charles Ray Maryland, Sr.

Charles Maryland, Sr., 67, a resident of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away, November 8, 2018. He was born in Wilson County, North Carolina on December 02, 1950 to Sherman Holiday and Minnie Ruth Tomlin. Charles attended Elm City High School, North Carolina and graduated in 1970. He joined the Navy in 1971 and was stationed at Naval Seabee Base Gulfport, where he met Ms. Carolyn Cole and was married February 07, 1977. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Minnie Ruth. Charles is survived by his wife of 41 years Carolyn Maryland; two brothers: Robert Earl and George; four sisters: Ann, Mildred, Delores, Linda and Jean; three children: Leonard Cox (Jameelah) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Cedric Cole (Shannon) of Raeford, North Carolina; and Charles Maryland, Jr. of Fayetteville, North Carolina; four grandchildren: Cortney Cole, Willie Cole, Brandon Taylor, and Jabin Yarborough and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Charles Maryland, Sr. will be held Friday, November 16, 2018. Visitation is at 10:00 AM and Service is at 11:00 AM at First United Gospel Assembly, 2000 28th Street, Gulfport, Mississippi 39503. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Richmond-August Funeral Home.
