Christella Beverly Fairley, age 80, a resident of Biloxi, MS passed away, May 24, 2018, in Ocean Springs from natural causes.
She was born in Florence, MS on February 28, 1938, the daughter of Willie Lee and Ida Mae Beverly. Christella attended William Carey University and received a degree in Child Development. She received a Kindergarten Teaching License through The University of Southern Mississippi. Christella was married to Julius Fairley on January 20, 1962.
Christella spent her working career at Moore Community House working in early childhood education for 26 years before retiring. She served as an election official for the Harrison County Election Commission. For a number of years, She also served faithfully at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in many capacities as well as the Biloxi Second Liners Queen for the Mardi Gras Parade. Her passion for gardening and love of cooking was known to all who knew her.
Christella was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Lee and Ida Mae Beverly; ten siblings, Marie, John Wesley, Dessie Ree, Cleotha, Lula Mae, Rayfield, Pauline, James Ollie, Levon, and Joe Louis; and one child, Fredrick Fairley.
Christella is survived by her spouse of 57 years, Julius Fairley; two children, Vanessa Beverly of Biloxi, MS and Christopher (Natalie) Fairley of Douglasville, GA and one daughter in law, Simone Fairley of Biloxi, MS; six grandchildren, Fredrick Christopher Fairley, Jasmine Lenoir, Kiah Joiner, Christopher Lavell Fairley, Jr., Cameron Lawrence Fairley, and Julian Daniel Fairley; nephew, Bobby Ray Beverly; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
