On December 25, 2017, God called on one of His precious angels to return home. Cora Belle Gatlin Walker departed from her pain and suffering to be at rest with Him. Cora was born on January 27, 1952 in Picayune, MS to the late Willie Gatlin and Mr. Thomas Walker and Francis P. Walker.
Mrs. Cora Walker accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church in Picayune. Upon moving to Gulfport in the 70’s, she joined Washington Chapel C.M.E. Church in Gulfport.
Mrs. Cora attended Carver High School in Picayune, MS. She also went on to study at Rust College in Holly Springs, MS for two and a half years. She worked at White Cap Seafood Restaurant for over 30 years in Gulfport and she loved to cook for family and friends.
Mrs. Cora was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Gatlin, and Thomas and Francis P. Walker; two daughters, Caroline Walker and Dwania Walker; a grandson, Demarcus Dean; an uncle, Oscar Hawkins; and two special friends, Winnie Henery and Georgia Weathersby.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three daughters, Counsuella Patrick (Jimmie) Poter of Picayune, Terrance Tricy (Rallen) Walker, and May (Daywane) Walker, both of Gulfport; a son, Edward (Tricia Dean) Walker of Gulfport; three sisters, Billie (James) Trotter, Mary (Eugene) Patrick of Picayune, and Barbara (Eddie) Marks of Texas; three brothers, Rev. Robert Earl Hawkins of Picayune, Mr. Joseph Gatlin (Nuicy) Spinks of Lacombe, LA, and Mr. Charles (Tonya) Gatlin of Houston; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; special friends, Michelle (Shortcake) Johnson, Elton McLaurin, and Tommy Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
