It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Dan Jones Sr.; on Friday, May 1, 2020. He died peacefully at Canon Hospice with his beloved family by his side, at the age of 81 years old.
Dan was born on November 14, 1938, in Letohatchee, AL, to Sam Jones and Forie Jones.
Dan spent his working career as a self-employed carpenter. He enjoyed being a carpenter and sharing extensive knowledge of relevant work with his sons, grandsons, and many others. Dan loved traveling, phone calls, and visits from his family, especially his grandchildren. Dan was a hard worker but he also loved to tease and laugh.
Dan married Lillie Mae Underwood on February 26, 1990. Dan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years.
Dan was preceded in death by six brothers, eight sisters, two stepsons, and two grandchildren.
Dan is survived by Lillie Mae Jones; one sister Eddie Mae Davis; seven sons Samuel (Beulah) Webster of Montgomery, AL; Isaiah Webster, Jimmy Jones, Freddie (Marjorie) Jones, Dan (Tonya) Jones, and Kenneth Jones all of Gulfport, MS; and Avis (Carol) Frieghtman of Jacksonville, FL; three daughters Barbara (Marcus) Manora, Gladys Smith, and Ada Jones all from Gulfport, MS; stepdaughter Lillie (Kenny) Bester, stepson Larry (Gloria) Underwood of Pensacola, FL; 57 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2020, at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:00 AM - 10:45 AM, in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines. Live-stream viewing available by following Infinity Funeral Home's Periscope page.
