David Ivy Wilson IV, a devoted husband, faithful church member, and respected truck driver, has passed away at the age of 65 in Gulfport, Mississippi on December 26, 2023. Born on December 22, 1957, in Mississippi, David's life embodied dedication and commitment.
Throughout his career as a truck driver, David showcased his unwavering work ethic and reliability. He approached his duties with utmost professionalism and was highly regarded by his colleagues and peers. David's years on the road allowed him to forge lasting friendships within the trucking community.
However, David's commitment extended far beyond his professional life. He was a beloved husband to Barbara Wilson, sharing countless cherished moments throughout their marriage. Their bond was built upon love, trust, and mutual support, epitomizing the true meaning of partnership.
David held a deep sense of faith and spirituality. He accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful member of the Gulf Coast Free Will Baptist Church in Gulfport. His unwavering commitment to his church community was evident through his active participation in various facets of church life.
In commemoration of David's life, two significant events will be held at the Gulf Coast Free Will Baptist Church located at 13040 Three Rivers Rd in Gulfport, Mississippi. The visitation will take place on January 6th, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. It is an opportunity for family, friends, and acquaintances to pay their last respects and offer comfort to one another during this difficult time.
Following the visitation will be the Celebration of Life ceremony from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM on January 6th, 2024. This event will honor David's life achievements and the impact he made on those fortunate enough to have known him. Through shared memories, heartfelt tributes, and words of encouragement from loved ones, we will celebrate the remarkable journey he undertook.
David Ivy Wilson IV will be remembered as a kind-hearted individual with a strong sense of duty and loyalty. His warm smile, gentle nature, and willingness to lend a helping hand will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his mother Henrietta Simpson.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Barbara Wilson. He leaves behind three sons, Christopher Wilson, Brain Wilson, and Ralph Wilson, of Atlanta, GA. Two sisters, Gwen (Paul) Robinson of Bay St. Louis, and Veronica Simpson of Bay St. Louis. Three brothers, Randy (Jacky) Wilson, of Virginia, Matthew (Linda) Acker of New Orleans, and Larry Wilson of Bay St. Louis. A devoted grandson, Darnell Duke. Two stepson, Tyron (Ashely) Duke of Florida, Jermaine Duke of Biloxi, MS. One stepdaughter, Sharon Melissa Duke of Dubi. Eight sisters-in-law, Geraldine (Jonny) Davis of Biloxi, MS, Annie Wright of Moss Point, MS, Maxine straight of Moss Point, MS, Dorothy Braughton of Moss Point, MS, Mary (Cheyenne) Moore of Pascagoula, MS, Elizabeth Borden of Moss Point, MS, Georgia Dukes of Houston, TX. A best friend, Peter Mitchell. Numerous grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
As friends and family gather to say their final goodbyes, it is essential that we remember David for the remarkable person he was. Let us celebrate his life, honor his achievements, and find solace in the knowledge that he touched the lives of many during his time with us. May he rest in eternal peace knowing that his legacy lives on in our hearts forever.
