Debia S. Jackson

Debia Shari Martin Jackson “Tibby”, age 74 was a resident of Biloxi, Mississippi passed Tuesday, August 27, 2024 surrounded by her loving family and devoted friends. Her battle with cancer was tough and she fought the good fight, but unfortunately loss and succumbed to her illness. She remained faithful to receive her crown of righteousness. 

Debia was born in Sutton, West Virginia, April 15, 1950, the daughter of the late Margaret Virginia and Billy Eugene Martin. She attended Withrow High school and studied at the University of Cincinnati. Debia was married to LaPlace Jackson Jr. on January 29, 1972. 

She spent her working career in many locations due to traveling with her husband throughout his military career. She worked as a nurse, caregiver, telemarketer, and was a volunteer at many military base thrift shops during her career. She was also a homemaker and employed with the Homes of Grace. She was a hard worker and also played hard. She participated in the Officers Wives Club bowling league, member of the Crew of Party People, and a Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Silhouette. She supported her husband during his military career. They traveled to Vance AFB, Enid, OK, Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA, Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX, Misawa AFB, Misawa, Japan final assignment Keesler AFB, MS where they made their home. 

Her hobbies included word search, puzzles, reading, cooking, playing cards, singing in the choir, and enjoying her friends. Tibby loved her grandson and he was one of the joys of her life. She really enjoyed cooking especially with her grandson because their passion for food was an adventure. 

Those celebrating her life and cherishing her memory are her loving husband LaPlace Jackson, Jr., two children, Erika (Charles Jr.) Jackson Williams, Christopher Eugene (Tamar fiancé) Jackson, both of Gulfport, MS.; grandson Da’Shaun Marquise Jackson, of Biloxi, MS; Two special grandsons, Cameron Gardner-Viverette and Maliyki Gardner both of Gulfport, MS; five sisters Rogina (Mark) King, Virginia (Billy) Washington, both of Columbus, OH, Birdena James, Clarkesville, TN, Beverly (Melvin) Butler, Debbie (Michael) Leahr, both of Cincinnati, OH, one brother Ronnie (Lillie) Hagwood, Columbus, OH., a godchild Serenity Alexis Maria, a host of nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends. Two devoted friends Florence Clay and Patricia Carter. She played a big part in raising her grandson Da’Shaun. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 11:00 am, at Amazing Grace Ministries.  Visitation will start at 10:00 am.
