Delores Ramsey Hayes

Delores Yvette Ramsey Hayes, MeMe as she was affectionately known by her siblings, was born November 25, 1958 in Biloxi, MS. Delores was the ninth of twelve children born to the late Robert Ramsey Sr. and Lucille McLendon Ramsey. Delores accepted Christ at an early age. She attended New Bethel Baptist Church during her childhood and young adult life. She later joined Infinity Church where she received the Holy Ghost and was baptized in Jesus Name. She was a woman of faith who believed that you must forgive quickly because God will not and cannot hear our prayers if you do not forgive. She met no strangers and understood people and would have words of encouragement. Delores started her education at Dukate Elementary School August 31, 1964. She was one of the first black students to start first grade after the Biloxi Public School District was desegregated. Delores continued her education finishing Biloxi High School in 1977 and attending Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Perkinston Campus. Upon returning home, Delores found a great love for styling hair and decided to attend Cosmetology School receiving her license in December 1982. Her career blossomed and she was blessed to work in a profession she loved and was skilled at. Delores was funny and straightforward. Her goal was to remain young at heart. She would color her hair and keep her face appropriately made-up so that her clients would feel that she was as young as or younger than her. Delores had a growing hand as a beautician. Delores met and married the man of her dreams in 1985, Daniel Hayes. Three beautiful children, two daughters and one son, were the fruit of their union. Delores did not miss much when it came to DeShondria, Rashad and DeAndrea. They always thought she had eyes in the back of her head. Delores felt that God allowed her to know what was going on even if she was too busy to see it. Delores was preceded in death by her loving parents, Lucille and Robert Ramsey Sr, and two loving brothers, Bryan Devonne Ramsey and Robert Ramsey Jr. Delores leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Daniel Hayes Sr., two sons, Daniel Hayes Jr (Casey) Ocean Spring MS, Daniel Rashad Hayes (Helen) Fort Hood TX, three daughters, Tasha Britton (Alex), D’Iberville MS, DeShondria Hayes, and DeAndrea Hayes, Gulfport MS; four grandkids, Azalyn Hayes, Alayna Hayes, Axellia Hayes and Zechariah Hayes, Fort Hood TX; four brothers, Gerald Ramsey, San Diego, CA, Gregory Ramsey (Jacque) Signal Hills, CA, James Ramsey, (Deborah ) Windsor Hills , CA and Darrell Ramsey, Inglewood, CA; five sisters, Diane Singleton, Biloxi, MS, Sandra Roberson (Aubrey), Las Vegas, NV, Patricia Ramsey, Hemet, CA, Marilyn Sharp (Fredrick), and Monique Ramsey, Los Angeles, CA; sister-in-law, Patti Jo Mckay Ramsey, View Park, CA, a special nephew, Jacques Singleton (Topeka) Marion, AK and a special niece, Chandra Ramsey, Corona, CA. Three Aunts, Olivia McClendon, Los Angeles and Dorothy McLendon, Windsor Hills, CA and Millie Tolliver, Memphis, TN; a special friend Mattie Boggs, Slidell, LA; a host of nephews, nieces, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. On July 12, 2020, Delores went home to be with the Lord. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 20, 2020, at Infinity Chapel at 12:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.
