Dennis Lee Daughtry, Sr, a resident of Gulfport, Mississippi, was born on November 20, 1945, in Lawrence County, Mississippi. He passed from this life January 14, 2013, at the age of 67 after a lengthy illness. Dennis was a member of New Evening Star Baptist Church. He always enjoyed reading his Bible. His faith never faltered. He completed training through the Job Corps and was employed at Phillips Building Supply of Gulfport, Mississippi for 36 years. His interests included spending time with his grandchildren, a love of classic western movies, gumbo, figs, and hunting. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Daughtry, and his loving son, Michael Jay Daughtry. Dennis was kind, gentle, honest, loving and deeply touched the lives of that were blessed to have known him. As a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and neighbor; we shall mourn this loss. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Doris Lee Daughtry, Chandler (Trae) Daughtry of California; sons, Dennis Lee Daughtry, Jr. of Picayune, MS and Jonathan Antjuan Daughtry of Gulfport, MS; sisters, Gertrude Robinson of Moss Point, MS; Sally Daughtry of Dallas, TX; Alberta Brown of Brookhaven, MS; and Cheryl Daughtry of Jackson, MS; brothers, Roudy Dauhtry of Madison, MS; Lyman Daughtry, March Daughtry and Lucuis Daughtry all of Silver Creek, MS; and Gerald Stringer of Monticello, MS; grandchildren, Dominique Lovane Daughtry, Jonathan Antjuan Daughtry, Jr. and Nicholas Jay Daughtry; and a host of nieces and nephews.
