Biloxi

Dennis Ivanhoe Hooper was called home by his heavenly father on Sunday, March 19, 2023, in Biloxi MS. He was born on April 30,1969, in Westmoreland, Jamaica, to the late Maxie Hooper and Lucia Reid.

As a teenager, Dennis relocated to Kingston, Jamaica where he continued his education and started his career.  While in Jamaica, he worked in construction and plumbing. This later lead to a career in security. He worked in security for 18 years before he became a US citizen. Dennis began employment with the University of Southern MS in April 2010, where he was a security officer.  He truly believed in helping others. In July of 2014, Dennis received a University Police Department Life Saving Medal after rescuing a motorist from drowning in the Bear Point Bayou.

Dennis was a HARD WORKER and took his jobs very seriously. When he was not at the University, he was also a full-time employee at Beau Rivage as a security officer.

Dennis was a man of God.  He knew his Heavenly Father and always quoted scripture daily. Verses such as, ‘'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13 were his cornerstone.  He had much love for children, horses, and other animals, especially cats. His hobbies included: watching Jamaican horse racing, sleeping, cooking, and spending time with his “queen”. Dennis was elated that he is to have another child in the coming months.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Maxie Hooper; maternal grandmother Eunice Daniels; aunts, Millicent Reid-Barnes; Claudia Reid; an uncle, Herbert Reid; and brother, Derron Williams
