Derius F. Jackson

Derius Fitzgerald Jackson, a cherished son, brother, and friend, passed away in his hometown of Gulfport, Mississippi, on March 30, 2025, at the age of 55. Born on September 20, 1969, in Gulfport, Derius was known for his hard-working spirit.

Throughout his career as a cook, Derius found immense joy in feeding his loved ones and bringing people together through his culinary talents. His passion for cooking not only showcased his skills but also underscored his support of those he loved, as he delighted in sharing meals for special events.

Derius is survived by his father, Rev. Joe E. Applewhite (Delores); his brothers, Eric L. Jackson, Philip T. Williams, Anthony J. Williams, Dennis R. Chapman and Devon Applewhite; his sister, Dionne Sherrod, Jr.; his aunt, Carrie Brackett; and his cousin/sister, Catherina L. Williams.

He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Bonnie Dean Chapman; his wife, Vanessa Larkin Jackson; and his grandmother, Jimmie Lee Green.

Derius Fitzgerald Jackson's legacy of love and hard work will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
