Dominic Joseph Alexander, Jr.

Dominic Joseph Alexander Jr, 79, of Gulfport, MS passed away May 4, 2020, at Memorial Hospital. He was born in Pass Christian, MS on April 26, 1941, the son of Dominic Sr. and Lucillie Jenkins. At years of age 5, Albert and Gwendolyn Ishem became his parents. Dominic attended Valina C. Jones in Bay St. Louis, MS where he received his high school diploma. Mr. Alexander was formally married and from that union had 8 children. Dominic later went on to marry Ms. Shemita Tate in 2015 raising 2 children. Dominic spent his working career at Jack Watt Steam Plant where he was Supervisor of Labor. After 25 years of service, he retired in 1999. He really enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and watching his favorite cowboy movies. Dominic also affectionately known as ‘D.J.’ was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Gwendolyn Ishem and former spouse Delecta Price, his brothers Russell, Harold, Lionel, William, Leonard, Anthony, Raymond, and Alphonse. And sisters Rose, Valarie, Julia Mae, Lorenza, and Rosalyn. He is survived by spouse Shermita Tate Alexander. His brothers Albert (Yvette)Alexander, Robert Alexander, and Nolan (Philomena) Reed. And sisters Marnella (Ronald) Miller, Melanie Nash, Deborah Alexander, Yvonne (Garfield) Means, and Elsie Hannibal. His children Rosalind Alexander, Bryant (Judy) Alexander, Malcolm Alexander, Anthony Alexander, Francesa (Raymond) McKay, Dominic (Kayla) Alexander III, Jeneen (Dwayne) Alexander, Xavier (Lisa) Alexander, Nigeria Walker, and Zoey Barnes. A host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Private services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2020.
