Donald Lee Washington Jr., known as “Duck”, 61, of Biloxi entered into his eternal rest April 17, 2016, at Merit Health Biloxi.
He was born in Biloxi, MS on December 31, 1954, to the late Laura and Donald Washington, Sr. Donald graduated from Biloxi High School and attended Culinary School in Tupelo, MS. Shortly after, he left Biloxi and moved to California. Donald lived in numerous places before returning to his native home.
Donald accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age at First Missionary Baptist Church. He was a beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and co-worker.
Donald loved life and he had a passion for cooking. He loved pleasing people and family with preparing many of his favorite dishes, one in particular, his famous “Gumbo”. Donald was also known as a Master of the Grill, always willing to entertain and feed his family and friends.
Donald’s work career was based around food. He served as a cook and Chef off shore and with numerous restaurants. At the time of his passing, Donald was employed at Phoenicia Gourmet Restaurant in Ocean Springs, MS. He worked there for seven years. He was a faithful and dedicated employee and will be greatly missed by his employer and co-workers.
Donald leaves to cherish his memory: one daughter, LaNeice Collins of New York, NY; one son, Jarvis Bell of Gulfport, MS; three sisters, Belinda Thurmon of Ocean Springs, MS, Joyce Madden of Biloxi, MS, and Darnell (Jeff) Moore of Marion, IN; one brother, Clark Washington of D’Iberville, MS; four grandchildren, Jevertis Blackmon, LaBrandi McClendon, Janell Woods-Bell, and Armani Bell of Biloxi. MS; one great grandchild, Ahmaud Hands of Biloxi, MS; six special nieces, Yolanda, Lela, Aurzella, Laura, Kizzy and Shalundra; one special nephew, Henry Madden, Jr.; twenty-two great nieces and nephews; two aunts, Estelle (Milton) Johnson of Stockton, CA, and Sylvia Washington of Oakland, CA.; a long life friend, Terry Weathersby; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
