Elizabeth Ramsey

Ms. Elizabeth "Betty" Ramsey, ws born to William and Mary Ramsey in Biloxi, MS. Elizabeth's education began at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic School. She attended OMS until the high school was closed. She graduated from M.F. Nichols High School and received her college degree from Huston-Tillison College in Austin, TX. She retired from Keesler Air Force Base after 33 years of service where she worked in finace but spent the majority of her work history as a military training instructor. She was a former member of the American Business Women's Association, a life member of the NAACP, and a former member of the Second Liners Mardi Gras Club where she served as secretary for a number of years. Ms. Ramsey was a very active member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. She served as a lector, Eucharist Minister, parish council member, altar society, and volunteered to do the weekly church bulletin for many years. After Hurricane Katrina, she relocated to Birmingham, AL and attended Our Lady of Fatima Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, and one sister Claire Marie Edwards. She is survived by her son Keith Allen Ramsey, Birmingham, AL; granddaughter, Kenta Ramsey-McLendon, Gulfport, Gulfport, MS: grandson, Seth William Ramsey, Birmingham, AL; her sister, Carolyn Ramsey-Perry, Biloxi; Two nieces, Catherine Hopkins, Lawrencville, GA; Stephanie Gillespie of Salem, AL; a nephew, Donny Edwards, Decatur, GA; 3 great nieces, 3 great nephews, 2 great-great nephews; one Aunt Olivia McClendon, Los Angeles, CA. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Biloxi with Visitation 9:00-10:45, Rosary at 10:45. In lieu flowers please make contributions in memory of Elizabeth Ramsey to Our Mother Sorrows Catholic Church, P.O. Box 347, Biloxi, MS 39533.
