Embra “Bam” Hicks a resident of Gulfport, MS passed away July 24,2020 in the arms of family at Singing River Hospital due to the effects of Covid-19. He was born in Jackson, MS on July 9, 1974 the son of Bobbie Jean Brown-Young and the late Sylvester Hicks, Jr. Early in life, Embra confessed his hope in Christ and was baptized at Greater Fairview Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member. Embra graduated from his beloved Robert M. Callaway High School in 1992 were he was a member of the ROTC and the photographer of the school's yearbook. He later went on to attend Hinds Community College and Mississippi State University studying in the field of engineering. Embra was united in holy matrimony to his sweetheart the former Cay ‘Tonye’ Thomas on February 18, 2011. Embra spent a 26-year working career at Sears where he started as warehouse associate working his way up to store manager in training but found his life’s passion as an on-road repair technician for the company. Embra loved to repair anything. He used his skills to help countless people. Many times, buying the parts himself and not charging anyone. His heart and honesty was the reason he was so loved and respected by so many people. Embra was preceded in death by his father Sylvester Hicks Jr., sister Phyllis Gail Hicks, and brothers Edwin Hicks and Elbert ‘Snookie’ Hicks. Embra's life will forever be cherished by his loving wife: Cay ‘Tonye’; a devoted father to 2 daughters: Shanequa Moore and Endia Rose Hicks and 2 sons: Cameron Wells and Michael Garrett; his precious mother: Bobbie Jean Brown-Young of Jackson, MS; a father and mother in law whom he adored: Ernest and Carrie Flaggs; He was an amazing brother to 5 sisters: Rita Brown-Washington of Jackson, May Brown, Barbara Brown, Ruby (Danny) Young-Burks and Robbie Brown of St. Paul, MN; and 3 brothers: Robert Brown, Terry (Anna) Young and Clayton Hicks of St. Paul MN; and always dependable to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A private viewing will be held at Infinity Funeral Home. A public viewing will follow at Lakeover Funeral Home, 1525 Beasely Road, Jackson, MS; Friday, July 31, 2020 from 3:30 - 6:30 PM. Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 10:00 am at Hope Springs Cemetery in Jackson. Infinity Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Embra D. Hicks.
