He was born in All Saints Village, Antigua, the son of Hugh Gershom Cornwall and Francis Thomas. Ercil was the caretaker at Friedensthal Moravian Church for over 23 years before retiring. He was a great Farmer and Fisherman and dedicated himself fully to farming after retirement. 

Ercil was preceded in death by his daughter - Kathleen Cornwall, 6 brothers, John, Melvin, Beresford, Ruston Cornwall, Walcott Joseph, Elton Gage and 4 sisters Delcina Jarvis, Madeline Cornwall, Christabell, Hermina Thomas. Nephew, Albert Merrick.

Ercil is survived by his Spouse, Una Cornwall, 3 sisters- Delores Merrick, Glindora Goodwin and Eunesta Cornwall. 5 children Vincy, Fitzroy, Steve, Glen Cornwall (Arlene), Sharmaine Philip (James).  Brothers-in-law- Roy and Kenneth Richards, Jim Goodwin.  Grandchildren Kyiana, Amanda, Akeem, Kwame, Jelisa, Ariel, Javon, Jeremiah, Misty, Lily, Mariah, Mone, James, Janine, Jessica, Tierra, Dahlia, Nadal and Nashon.   Great grandchildren Kymari, Cameron, Isaac, Liam, Everett and Ja’Layah.  Nieces and nephews: Noel, Winston, Carmen, Kortwright, Joan, Barbara, Hilroy, Charlesworth, Hewitt, Rohan, Cheryl, Claudia, Melshonie, Shemika, Kelly, Orielle, Eton, Valerie and Carl.  Goddaughter: Desarrie Farquhar. 

Other survivors include: Yvette Cornwall and family, Coraleta Cornwall and family, Rt Rev Conrad Spencer and family, Faith Moravian Church family, Edwards family, Griffith family, Richards family, Vince Lescott and family, Jennifer Joseph McIntosh and a host of other dear relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Infinity Church The Apostolic Assembly - 394 Forrest Ave., Biloxi, at 11:00 am.  Visitation will start at 10:00 am.
