Fester Groves, Sr.

Fester Groves, Sr., of Gulfport, MS, passed from time into eternity October 31, 2015, at Biloxi VA Medical Center. He was born in Thorna, Mississippi on June 11, 1935 to Elias and Fannie Groves. Fester was married to Ms. Bettie Lou Aaron on October 9, 1957. He spent his working career in ILA working in local Refrigeration Diesel Mechanic Fester had a passion for fixing things, especially cars. He was known as the neighborhood mechanic. He was a humble man always willing to lend a hand to help others. He was a very hard working man and always provided for his family. He loved all sports especially football, and enjoyed riding his bicycle around the neighborhood. All of his grandchildren have had the pleasure of drinking coffee, eating cheese and vanilla wafers, rice with grape jelly or having a little taste of granddaddy�s tobacco. He also loved telling old stories to them and giving them something to eat. Daddy was a man loved and respected by many, especially his children. Mr. Bone, Snake, Big Uncle and Daddy you will truly be missed. We love you! Mr. Fester Groves was preceded in death by his parents, Elias and Fannie Groves; brother, Elias Groves; and sister, Annie Mae Walker. Fester leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Bettie Lou Groves; five Sisters Ira Dee Fields, Lottie M. Evans, Queen E. Hardy (Lint), Mary B. Flowers, and Fannie Cumming; six sons, Fester Groves Jr, Larry D. Groves, Frederick L. Groves, Timothy D Groves (LaTonya), Clyde V. Groves, and Antorius L. Groves (Felicia); four daughters, Carol F. Fontelroy (Mark), Melessia L. Ramie (Wade), Keisha D. Magee (Demetrice), and Fatima Y. Boyd (Antonio); 17 grandchildren, Timothy Groves Jr., Donnie Groves, Schuyler Stapleton, Larry Stapleton, Chrishanta Groves, Ferrin Fontelroy, Khalia Groves, Ticochie Groves, TiQuandrick Groves, Darius Groves, Jamal Groves, Demarcus Fontelroy, Charles Jackson, Ashontee Boyd, Kyra Groves, Furius Bradley, Gabriel Hannibal; and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Fester Groves Sr., will be held Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11:00 am at Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 4538 15th St, Gulfport, MS 39501.
