Franklin Frazier Payton, 76, a resident of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away, October 05, 2016, at Ocean Springs Hospital. He was born and raised in Vancleave, MS, on January 10, 1940, to the late Frazier and Rosa Lee Payton. He was the sixth of thirteen children. Franklin attended Elizabeth H. Keys High School where he received his diploma in 1958, with highest honors. After graduating from high school, he attended Jackson State University where he majored in Mathematics for three years until he was called to enlist in the United States Army. After completing three years in the United States Army, he returned to Biloxi, MS and met his devoted wife of 50 years, Narcissie Walker. They married on June 24, 1966, and to this union they were blessed with six children, one boy and five girls. Franklin spent his working career at Ingalls Shipbuilding in the Pipefitting Department for 30 years and Keesler Air Force Base in the Custodial Department for 20 years. Upon retiring at Ingalls Shipbuilding, he continued his trade. He was considered the “Jack of all Trades” by many. Until his death he attended and served as Co-Chairman of the deacon board, trustee board and Vice President of Mass Choir at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Vancleave, MS. He served many years as the Master Mason of the William Cooper Lodge 286. Franklin “Fraz Jr." was preceded in death by his father and mother, Frazier and Rosa Lee Payton; his grandmother, Lula Batson; two brothers, Herbert L Payton, Sr. and James Stanley Payton, Sr.; and two sisters, Cedonia Frazier and Corrine Buxton. Franklin “Fraz Jr.”, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, is survived by his wife Narcissie (Cissie); one son, Gregory (Iris) Payton of Moss Point, MS; five daughters’ Maria Payton, Sandra Payton, Tara Payton Steele of Ocean Springs, MS, Valerie Gilner and Tiffany Smallman of Biloxi, MS; an adopted daughter and son, TaShounda and Kerry Robertson of Richton, MS; one godchild, Kennya Sneed of Stockbridge, GA; twelve grandchildren, Gregory Jr., Alyssia, Kendra, Brandon, Kendrick, LaWanda, Brianna, Khadijah, Na’im, Jwan, Isaiah and Jaden; six great grandchildren, Malik, Kaivon, Mekhi, Saniyah, Dezmond, and Khali; two brothers, Ollie (Ruth) Payton of Vancleave, MS and James (Jean) Payton of Ocean Springs, MS; eight sisters, Julia Mae Jessie and Priscilla Fantroy of Ocean Springs, MS, Valice Gross of Madison, WI, Roseanna Catchings of Biloxi, MS, Dorothy Harris and Clarissa Perkins of Gautier, MS, Gloria Jean Payton of Dallas, TX, and Helen Pittman of Magee, MS; eight sisters-in-law, Gloristine Payton, Annie Lou Walton, Mary Lou Gaines, Eloise Tucker, Genevia Walton, Willene Peyton, Deborah (Wayne) Starks and Juanita Hinton; seven brothers-in-law; Roosevelt (Janice) Bridges, Jerry (Robin) Bridges, Sonny (Janice) Bridges, Julius (Gilda) Bridges, Ralph (Betty) Bridges, Jim Bridges and John Husband; and an abundance of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends; and two very special friends, Mr. Joe Wright and Rev.
