Herman Lee Sparkman, a beloved member of the Biloxi community and loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 3, 2024, in Gulfport, Mississippi. He was born on April 7, 1950, in Summit, Mississippi. With a career spanning over 45 years in construction at Biloxi Prestressed Concrete, Herman was known for his hard work and dedication.
Herman's presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He had a very strong personality and was a man who could be depended upon. Always quick to lend a helping hand, his laughter filled every room he entered and brought joy to those around him.
Outside of work, Herman found great joy in his hobbies and interests. He had a green thumb and enjoyed spending time in his garden, patiently tending to vegetables such as greens, tomatos, okra, and cabbage just to name a few. Fishing was another passion of his that allowed him to relax and appreciate the beauty of nature. In addition to these hobbies, Herman was a huge fan of the New Orleans Saints and cheered for them passionately.
One of Herman's proudest accomplishments was supporting his family so that his wife, Cynthia Sparkman, could be a stay-at-home mother. He took great pride in providing for his family and ensuring their happiness and well-being. His 8 children, brought him immense joy throughout his life. He loved his family more than anything and made countless sacrifices to care for his family. During his life, Herman was also blessed with 24 grandchildren who held a special place in his heart who will carry forward his precious memories.
Herman is survived by his children Herman Lee Sparkman Jr., Terry Sparkman, Fred Sparkman, Tyrone Sparkman, Michelle Latham, Tamika (Brandon) Strong, Ann (Patrick) Richardson, and Brandy Sparkman, 24 grandchildren, and a growing number of great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Annie May Sparkman; his loving wife Cynthia Sparkman, as well as six brothers and three sisters and one grandchild.
A visitation will be held on February 17th from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at DP Nation Biloxi, located at 996 Division St, Biloxi, MS 39530. This will be followed by a Funeral Service at the same location at 3:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to join together to remember and celebrate Herman's life during these services.
