Our world became brighter on Monday, October 8, 2012; the day Little Miss Jayla Coleman was born. Her beautiful smile and loving heart were beacons of light in our lives.
Jayla “JJ” Denise Imani Coleman, age 4, of Gulfport, MS, passed away September 10, 2017, in Mobile, AL.
She was the oldest daughter of Jonathan and Akiera Coleman. Jayla “JJ” was a delightful, happy child with an infectious smile. She lit up any room she entered. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and playing. Teaching her siblings and the adults around her was a passion as well. She was loved by all, and will be greatly missed and remembered.
Jayla “JJ” was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandmother, Sandra Dedeaux; her maternal great-grandfather, Jimmie McClain Jr.; her great-grandmother, Carolyn Lee-Dedeaux; and maternal uncle, Jeremiah Harper.
Jayla “JJ” is survived by her parents, Jonathan and Akiera Coleman; her two siblings, Jaiden “Nala” Danyell Ivana Coleman and Jaylee “Lee Lee” Destiny Iyanna Coleman; her paternal grandparents, Tamara (Kevin “Paw Paw”) McDonald and Shanna (Regina) Barnes; her maternal great-grandmother, Belinda McClain; her maternal grandparents, Katina Robinson and Dennis Jones; her uncles, Richard Jasper, Justin Lee, Shanna Barnes Jr., Demetrius Harper, Jalen Robinson, all of Gulfport, MS, Jason Barnes of Riverdale, GA, and Brendan (Charity) Barnes of Killeen, TX; her aunts, Kimberly Coleman, Tiffany (Corderos) Keys, Tytianna Lee, Shantel Dixon, all of Gulfport, MS, Amanda Pruitt, Alexis McClain and Dominque Starr, all of Biloxi, MS, and Ashley Watts of Abilene, TX; as well as numerous cousins, relatives and friends. The family would also like to thank her great-uncle, Tony Coleman of Gulfport, MS; an extended family member, Quantella Lee of Delisle, MS; and a special friend Jackie (Brady) Pauley for all their assistance and love before and during this trying time.
Although her time on earth was brief, we will forever be grateful for the moments and memories we shared with our darling girl.
Miss Jayla Coleman was carried by angels to her heavenly home, Sunday, September 10, 2017. She was dearly cherished and will be missed by her loving family and community of friends.
Funeral services for Jayla “JJ” Coleman will be held Saturday September 23, 2017 at 3 pm at the Richmond-August Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation an hour before.
