Johnnie Griffith,74,of Ocean Springs, Mississippi passed away on Tuesday December 30, 2014 at Ocean Springs Hospital. He was born on April 18, 1940 in Bassfield, Mississippi to the late Robert and Lonie Griffith. Johnny is preceded in death by his three sisters, three brothers, and one son, Tommy McGee. He received his high school diploma from Gulfport High School and was a self-trained chef. Johnnie moved from Prentiss, Mississippi to Biloxi in 1952. Johnnie married the love of his life, Stella Mae Williams, on Easter weekend in April of 1974. Johnnie worked as a chef at the White Pillars, Sea-n-Sirloin, and the Imperial Palace Casino and Hotel. He received numerous awards and honors for his cooking abilities. Johnny also owned and operated a lawn and landscaping service. He retired in 2006; however, he still maintained his lawn service up until the time of his death. Johnnie is survived by his loving wife, Stella Griffith of Ocean Springs, MS; one brother, Robert E. Griffith (Ann) of Sarasota, FL; one sister, Pellie Whitfield of Gulfport, MS; two aunts, Mary Reese of Bassfield, MS and Luella Hall of Ellisville, MS; one uncle, James Griffith of Bassfield, MS; twenty-one children: Terry McGee of Biloxi, MS, Darrell McGee of Ocean Springs, MS, Josephine Kennedy (James � deceased)of Gulfport, MS, Curtis Griffith (Beverly) of Atlanta, GA, Veronica Watts of Gulfport, MS, Fedia Darlene McGee of Gulfport, MS, Johnny Lee Griffith of Gulfport, MS, Jerry Lee Griffith of Atlanta, GA, Deborah Smith Thompson(Donald) of Ocean Springs, MS, Paulene Jones (Terence) of Ocean Springs, MS, Sheilda Dean of Gulfport, MS, Johnny Griffith, Jr. (Mary) of Gulfport, MS, Lonia Lee (Mark) of Gulfport, MS, Reginald McGee (Ann)of Ocean Springs, MS, Eddie Griffith of Atlanta, GA, Donna Griffith (Cory) of Escondido, CA, Kimberley Denise Robins (Darron) of Gulfport, MS, Diane Griffith of Gulfport, MS, Johnnie Mae Griffith of Gulfport, MS, Chris Griffith of Gulfport, MS, and Janie Mccullogh (Marvin � deceased) of Gulfport, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Throughout his life, Johnnie had many hobbies and enjoyed life to its fullest. He loved fishing, singing gospel while playing his harmonica, drawing and cooking. He was a loving husband and father. Johnnie believed in helping and serving others and taught his children to do the same. His smile touched the lives of others and will live on in the hearts of his loved ones. Funeral Services for Johnnie Griffith will be held on Saturday January 3, 2015 at Greater Grace Apostolic Church located at 394 Forest Avenue Biloxi, MS 39530. The repast will be held at Jesus Christ Church of Restitution located at 3010 Highland Avenue D�Iberville, MS 39530.
