Johnny Lavelle Merritt (AKA Johnny Rotten) left his earthly home in Long Beach, MS, on September 9, 2020, at the age of 62 to his Heavenly home. He passed away at the V.A. Hospital heliport in Biloxi, MS from lung cancer.
He was preceded in death by both parents, Mary Sue Harell and Johnny Jerry Merrit, and one brother, James Tistell Harell. He was survived by two sisters Melissa Ann Cooper (MaC) and Rhonda Sue Smith, both of Columbia; two daughters, Tiffany Martin Wheaton and Kandel Blue and one son, Robert James Fredrick Blue; several grandkids and a host of nieces and nephews, with a few great ones.
The family also wants to thank the V.A. Hospital Staff for the love and care they showed him in his last few days. And a very special thank you to Bob Fisher, a very kind man, and also to our brother’s silent helper for helping him through the last year of his life. Thank you again.
Funeral Services for Mr. Merritt will be on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at Infinity Funeral Home – 184 Main Street, Biloxi, MS 39530 at 11:00 am. Viewing will be from 11:00 to 11:50 a.m. Interment will follow at the V.A. Memorial Cemetery.
