Joseph L. Thames

Joseph Lee “Joe” Thames was born March 16, 1975, to Rodessia M Torrence and Alfred Ray Fells. He departed this life Thursday, December 16, 2021.

He attended Hattiesburg Public Schools. Joe Thames was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Rodessia Torrence, his oldest daughter Nakieta McCarty, his grandmother, Jessie Mae Smith, his aunt, Deborah Smith, and his uncle Otis Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memory, 13 daughters (Nneka, Joanna, Evelise, Ajaycia, Myeshia, Caliesha, GeGe, Jessica, Skylar, Nakia, Kimora, Zyria, and Stormi), 2 sons (Joshua and Braxton, a sister, Eva, a brother, Kel, 13 “pawpaw babies,” a host of nieces and nephews, and too many friends and family to name.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Shady Grove Baptist Church - Hattiesburg, at 12:00 pm. Visitation will start at 10:00 am.
