Joyce Ann Madden, 67, of Biloxi, MS entered into her eternal rest September 15, 2019, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital, Gulfport, MS.
Joyce was born on April 16, 1952, in Biloxi, MS to the late Donald and Laura Washington, Sr. She was a 1970 Graduate of Nichols High School (NHS). While in high school she participated in the NHS Choir and was a drum majorette.
She was a woman of faith and a faithful member of Family of Faith Christian Church, Biloxi, MS.
Her interests included family, church, playing cards, visiting loved ones and she LOVED going out to eat…smile! Her work history included the following: Health Department in Biloxi, VA Canteen Service, VA Hospital and last the Naval Home until her health failed.
Joyce NEVER met a stranger. She loved everybody, especially her family and friends. She touched many people in her own special way. Her compassion for others was a huge part of who she was. She loved spending time with her grandkids and they loved spending time with her. She was also a giver, didn’t have much but gave from her heart. One of her favorite expressions was, “Hey Baby”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald Washington, Sr. and Laura Burney Washington; and her brother, Donald Washington, Jr.
Joyce is survived by her three children, Lela (Lyndon) Kinlock of Biloxi, MS, Laura (Johnathan) Thompson of Gulfport, MS, and Henry Madden III of Gulfport, MS, two sisters, Belinda Thurmon of Ocean Springs, MS, and Darnell (Jeff) Moore of Ocean Springs, MS, one brother, Clark Washington of D’Iberville, MS; eleven grandchildren, LaShanti, Quinesha, Daejzuan, Rashaan, Mya, Keajzuan, Alexis, Abby, Aleyah, Trenton and Jordyn; two great-grandchildren, Allure and Frederick and her dog who she loved dearly, Prince; two aunts, Estelle (Milton) Johnson of Stockton, CA, and Sylvia Washington of Oakland, CA; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
