Leroy �Turnaround� Mapp, 99, resident of Gulfport, MS, passed away, October 17, 2013 at his home. He was born September 29, 1914, the Son of Quilla Mapp and Jannie Mecalf and raised by his grandmother Ophelia Cleveland. He was born in Newton, MS, where he lived his child life. He later moved to Gulfport, MS until Our Master called him home. �Turnaround� spent his working career in Construction, but his love was fishing and gardening. His favorite spot was the Bay St. Louis Bridge catching those big sheep head fish. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lee Easter Abram, Essie Mae Jones, and Ophelia Taylor Hudson; brothers, Frank Taylor, Earlie Taylor, and Leo Taylor; and his devoted wife Lucille F. Mapp; step-daughter Pauline Floyd; step-sons, Johnnie Bolden, Willie Floyd Sr., and James Floyd; step-grandson, Willie �Cannonball� Floyd Jr. He leaves to cherish many fond memories to his sister, Milria Etria James of New Orleans, LA; daughters, Irma (Bernard) Andrews of Gulfport, MS and Gwen Alexander of Gulfport, MS; step-sons, Calvin (Betty) Floyd of Gainesville, FL, and Thomas Floyd Jr. of Englewood, CA; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Leroy Mapp will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior. The family of Mr. Leroy Mapp has entrusted his care to the professional staff of RICHMOND-AUGUST FUNERAL HOME.
