Malinda D. Hanks, the third child of nine born to the late Lottie Graves Ray and Theodore Ray, Sr., was born August 30, 1926, in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Malinda D. Hanks united with the first Missionary Baptist Church of Biloxi, Mississippi under the leadership of Revered Holloway at an early age. Malinda Hanks attended Gulfport School District. Malinda retired from Keesler Air Force Base, Department of Temporary Housing Quarters, Biloxi, Mississippi.
Malinda D. Hanks departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in D’Iberville, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Hanks, four sisters, Loretta Caldwell. Della Moore, Almanette Daniels, and Genevieve Lawrence, and three brothers, Theodore Ray, Edward Jacobs and Barney Ray.
Malinda was a devoted mother. She had a kind, caring and loving personality which enlarged her circle of friends. Her interests included singing, meeting people, and being with family. She was loved by many her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
Malinda D. Hanks’ beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her three daughters, Doreatha (Leon Cunningham), Eastaboga, AL, Evangeline (William Jackson), Montgomery, AL, Janell (Leon Britton), D’Iberville MS). One brother Gerald Jacobs, Dayton Ohio, 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends
