Ms. Mamie B. Mitchell, 96, a resident of Biloxi, MS, passed away, July 24, 2013 at Biloxi Regional Medical Center. Mamie was born in Andalusia, AL; January 27 1917, the daughter of Will and Carrie Buford. Mamie was united in matrimony to Nettles Mitchell on February 28, 1944. This union continued until Mr. Nettles passing October 1, 2001. Mamie spent her working career at Howard Memorial Hospital in Biloxi working as a dietician. She will be remembered for her outspoken, kind-hearted nature. Mamie enjoyed Bingo and fishing and cared for the members of her community. Mamie was member of The Modernettes a women�s social club and traveled often with this group. Mamie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Nettles Mitchell and daughter, Lovie Jean Mitchell-McCray and one niece, Felicia Peterson. She leaves to cherish her memory, one brother, Sylvester Buford, sister, Eva Mae Edwards, one son, Shannon Mitchell, Sr., six grandchildren, LaToya Smith, Shannon Mitchell, Jr., and James Thomas I, Selah Mitchell, Secia Mitchell and Kaesha Mitchell; three great-grandchildren Shaun Mitchell, Evan Mitchell, James Thomas, Jr.; a host of other relatives and a community of special friends. Funeral services for Mamie B. Mitchell will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 11:00am at Flowing Rivers of Life Ministries Church, 996 Division Street, Biloxi MS. The family of Ms. Mamie B. Mitchell has entrusted her care to the caring staff of Richmond-August Funeral Home.
