Mark Raphael Lazard

Mark R. Lazard, 52, and a resident of Houston, TX passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 in Biloxi, MS. Mark was born on April 16, 1960 in Biloxi, Ms, and he was the second child born to the late Dr. Charles Lazard and Doris B. Lazard. He attended Nativity BVM Elementary and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1978. Upon graduation, Mark enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Hood, TX. He continued his enlistment until being honorably discharged in 1982. Upon separation from the military, Mark was employed by the United States Postal Service for 19 years before retiring. Mark had a strong sense of family. He enjoyed traveling to see family and friends and preparing delicious meals for everyone to enjoy. He had a larger than life personality that brought joy to everyone. Mark always celebrated life, whether good times or bad, and felt great joy at family milestones. He will be deeply missed by all. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lazard. He is survived by his mother, Doris B. Lazard, of Biloxi, MS; daughters, Andrea (Arthur) McElveen of Baton Rouge, LA; Latoya (Lonnie) Walker of Houston, TX; sons, Jarred Lazard of Houston, TX; Quentin Lazard of Houston, TX; and Rodrick (Wendy) Sims of Houston, TX; sisters, Dymptina Dumas of Biloxi, MS; Hyacinth (Jon) Andersen of Yankton, SD; brothers, Arthur Lazard of Biloxi, MS; Zachary Lazard of Houston, TX; Xavier (Teresa) Lazard of Snellville, GA; and eleven grandchildren. The visitation will be on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 9-11am at Nativity BVM Cathedral in Biloxi, MS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am. Interment will be at the VA cemetery in Biloxi, MS.
