Mrs. Mary Lee Parker Battle was born June 7, 1925 in Leaksville MS. She was raised by Otto and Alberta Davis. She was joined in holy matrimony to James Daniel Battle on July 18, 1939. Mother Battle was an active member of New Light Baptist Church until her health failed. She served as a Youth Sunday school teacher, organizer of Women at Work Auxiliary, Senior Women Missionary Union and a member of Heroines of Jericho Eureka Court 44. She also served as Mother of the church at New Light. Mother Battle was preceded in death by her husband James D. Battle, son Melvin (Victoria) Battle & grandson Ves�e Gales. She leaves to cherish her memories ten devoted children. Four daughters: Thelma Battle Gales, Fayette, MS, Joyce Battle Magee, Ocean Springs, MS, Pearl Battle (Willie) Scarbrough, Pascagoula, MS & Sallie Redmond, Baton Rouge, LA; six sons: Eddie Lee (Sandee) Birmingham, MI, James Jr. (Garnetta) Jackson, MS, Robert(Gladys) Biloxi, MS, Howard (Dallana) Seattle, WA, Joseph (Blanche) Tucson, AZ, & Edward (Sharon) Ocean Springs, MS; Sister Gracie Parker, Saucier, MS; Sister in laws, Mary Parker, Gulfport , MS & Velma Smith, Chicago IL. A very special and sincere friend Lillie (Ms. Juicy) Joseph, Vancleave, MS. Devoted adopted daughter Brenda Straight, Ocean Springs, MS. Thirty grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be held, Saturday, September 21, 2013 at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 5120 Burney Road in Vancleave, MS. Visitation from 10:00am - 11:00am with funeral services beginning at 11:00am. The family of Mrs. Mary Lee Battle has entrusted her care to the professional staff of RICHMOND-AUGUST FUNERAL HOME.
