Mary Lee (Presley-Hands) Burns was born December 24, 1937 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to the late Robert Lee Hands and Georgia May Hands (Spears) where she attended the Public school of Forrest County at Rowan High School. She was a member of Greater Bible Fellowship Church (Rivers of Living Water) of Gulfport; Ms., where she served faithfully as a mother of the church, until her relocation to Florida after Hurricane Katrina.
Mary Lee Burns was united in Holy Matrimony to S.C. Burns for forty-eight years and they were blessed with ten wonderful children. As a result of her nurturing spirit and generous personality, she was loved by many. Her life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Bay Medical Hospital in Panama City, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Robert (Cootie Cat) Hands and Richard Hands; Sisters: Mary Louis (Jeep) Evans and Mary Deloris (Lois) Moore; Son, Amos Ray (Fatjug) Burks, Jr.; and Grandson Melvin (NukNuk) R. Presley
Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Gloria Hands of Gulfport, MS, Minister Sonny Lee (Margaret) Hands of Gulfport, MS, Linda Presley of Gulfport, MS, Larry (Arlene) Presley of Holt, FL, Pamelia (Ronnie) Jaynes of Panama City, FL, Mary (Berry) Davis of Gulfport, MS, Hovettie Presley of Jacksonville, FL, Melvin (Brushawn) Presley of Gulfport, MS; fourty-four grandchildren; eighty-six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Mitchell (Carolyn) Hands of Pensacola, FL; sister,: Evelyn Hands and Trisha Hands of Hattiesburg, MS; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
