Mrs. Mary R. Williams was born May 29, 1918 in Pearlington, MS to the late George Powell and Ester Thomas (Willie Thomas). She peacefully entered into an eternal slumber on Monday, October 31, 2011, departing from Greenbriar Nursing Center in Biloxi, MS, to her new home in Glory. Her early education was received from the New Orleans, LA public school system. At an early age, Ms. Mary accepted Christ into her life, was baptized and became a faithful member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She was a dedicated and loyal member of the usher board for many years. Ms. Mary was admired for her elegant attire to include her fashionable hats. She was affectionately known to some as Grandma Mary and to others as NanNan. Her cheerful, caring and loving heart afforded her many opportunities to help take care of and encourage many families and friends. Ms. Mary enjoyed communicating with others. She never met a stranger. She also enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and church functions - gumbo, pecan candy and pound cakes were her favorites. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dave (Big Boy) Williams; two sisters, Augustine Seymour and Ellen White; four brothers, Louis, George, Frank, and McNeil Thomas. She leaves to cherish fond memories, two sons; Raymond (Barbara) Ricard, Jr. of Biloxi, MS and Louis (Aline) Ricard of Pensacola, FL, a very loving, devoted and endearing god-daughter Gail (Walter) Cook of Biloxi, MS; eight grandchildren: June, Kathryn, Sharon, Terrie, Raymond III, Renae, Louis "Ricky" and Jerome; twenty great grandchildren, twelve great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
