Mary Louise Evans

Mrs. Mary Louise Evans, beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, passed away December 20, 2016. She was born January 14, 1939, in Hattiesburg, MS, to Robert and Georgia Mae Hands. She attended Roe Ann High School in Hattiesburg. She also worked at USM College in Gulfport and was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church, where she was an usher and a member of the Senior Mission. She married Herbert L. Evans on March 15, 1970. Mary was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers, Robert Hands, Jr., and Richard Hands; a sister, Mary D. Moore; a son, Kenneth Hands; and two grandsons, Hollis Taylor and Joseph Harper. Those who mourn her departure are a devoted husband, Herbert L. Evans; five sons, David Person and Lester Hands, both of Hattiesburg, Joseph (Sharon) Hands, Johnathan (Carolyn) Hands, and Christopher Evans, all of Gulfport; a stepson, Tyree (Joyce) Evans of Michigan; an adopted son, Christopher Casey; two daughters, Vicky L. Hands and Linda Evans, both of Gulfport; four stepdaughters, Mariea (Ron) Lucas, Carolyn Pugh, Diane Smith, and Danita Patterson; a sister, Mary (S.C.) Burns; a brother, Mitchell (Carolyn) Hands; 30 grandchildren; 59 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. The care of Mrs. Mary Louise Evans has been entrusted to RICHMOND-AUGUST FUNERAL HOME. Inquiries: 228-436-6722.
