Mable Olivia Peterson Miller, 98 of Clinton, MS passed away on March 9, 2019, at Pine Forest, Jackson, Mississippi.
Olivia, as she was affectionately called, was born on August 14, 1920, on a beautiful Saturday morning to Tizzie Redding Peterson and Charlie Peterson in Clinton, Mississippi. She attended Sumner Hill High School in Clinton, across from where she and her parents resided. She then graduated from Lanier Senior High School, located in Jackson, MS in 1937. Furthering her education, she matriculated to Southern Christian Institute at Edwards, MS that merged with Tougaloo College in 1954. She then attended Jackson State University. Olivia worked for several years as an educator until her health began to fail.
She moved to Biloxi, Harrison County to accept a teaching position and met the love of her life, John. She was united in holy matrimony to John Miller who preceded her in death in 1969. To that union, no children were born. Olivia confessed Christ at an early age and joined Holy Ghost Missionary Baptist Church. She joined Main Street Baptist Church after her move to Biloxi.
Olivia moved back to Clinton, the place of her birth after Hurricane Camille and her husband’s demise. Her parents and siblings, Robbie, Lola Bell, Leroy, McKinley Tyrone (MT), Elfleta & Almeda, Randolph, Laura, and Charles all preceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn several nieces and nephews, Louise Kelly, Gwendolyn Bankston, of Clinton, MS, Sarah Brock and Herman Holly of Jackson, MS, Wayne and Brian Alnutt of Piscataway, NJ, and Kathy Alnutt Hartgrove of Willingboro, NJ and a host of great-nieces and nephews.
