Otis Vell Barnes, 66, born July 8, 1955, transitioned Sunday, August 8, 2021, at his home in Biloxi, MS. His parents Amos Barnes (Prentiss, MS) and Zeddie Mae Roberts Jefferson (Jackson, MS.) preceded him in death, as well, as a younger infant brother.
Otis proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. and was stationed at Cherry Point, North Carolina.
He was a member of the Hanging Moss Road Church of Christ in Jackson, MS. Otis was a General Contractor. Prior to that he attended Church’s Chicken Academy and managed several restaurants in the Mississippi and California area. He attended Sawyer Business College and received his Accounting Degree/Certificate. He had a Great Love and Affection for Music, Cooking, Baking and Martial Arts. The expression on his face showed that he really appreciated the compliments received after anyone enjoyed his handcrafted meals.
He leaves to cherish his memories with his Bonus Dad – Daniel Jefferson – MS, Sons’ - Olando C. Hopson – CA, Christopher D. V. Barnes – GA, Daughters, Kimberly E. Barnes-Thomas (Jimmie) - AL, Nichelle M. Redmon-Pittman (Orlando) FL/AL, and Jennifer R. Jasper (Shon) - MS. Granddaughters’, Kamayi K. Thomas - AL and Asia T. N. Pittman - MS, Grandsons – Jeremy A. Singleton - FL, Nicholas F. Singleton – FL/AL, Orlando J’Sean Pittman - MS, Jonathon D. Jasper- GA, Jordon D. Jasper – MS and Joshua D. Jasper-Jackson - MS, Jayson A. Jasper - IL and Kydreon D. Stokes - IN. He also leaves to cherish his memories with his sisters, Linda F. Bell – MS, and Sister/Niece - Latasha Jefferson Paige (Perry)/ Ariana Sirgew – MS and Brother Michael Barnes (Ruthie) – OH, along with a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at 11:30 am at Infinity Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will start at 10:30 am.
