Mrs. Pastorial Newkirk Chambers, 70, of Biloxi, Mississippi passed away June 5, 2012 in the presence of family and friends. A member of Christ the Redeemer Church, Pat was known for her love of cooking and children. She was the Valedictorian of Keys High School Class of 1961 and later graduated from Alcorn State University. During her younger years Pat worked as an English Translator in Iran and also taught Kindergarten. She was responsible for the formation of Head Start on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. A world traveler, Pat lived in Iran, Colorado, and Montana before returning to Biloxi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Chambers. She is survived by one daughter, Minister Bonita (Min. Mark) Wise, one grandson Ricky Oden, and one great granddaughter, Lashay Liddell; four sisters, Hazel Janet Thomas, Ann Batiste, Emma Hopkins, and Deborah Fairley, and two brothers, Floyd Smith, and Hermes Newkirk. Funeral services for Mrs. Pastorial Newkirk Chambers will be Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Greater Grace Apostolic Assembly, Biloxi. Visitation from 12:00-1:00pm, with service beginning at 1:00pm. Interment will be at 9am Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Biloxi National Cemetery. The Family has entrusted the care of their loved one to the professional staff of RICHMOND-AUGUST Funeral Home.
