Rev. James "J.P." Sherman

James Preston Sherman, seventy, of Lucedale Mississippi passed at home surrounded by family on the morning of Monday, October 25, 2021.

He was born on March 3rd, 1951 to the late James E. and Dorothy Mae Sherman. He served proudly and was honorably discharged from the United States Air National Guard. He selflessly served his Lord in the ministry and mission field for over forty years. He fulfilled his calling up until the day of his homecoming.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, T.E. Sherman and wife, Pat Sherman, his sister, Dorothy Jean Hatcher and husband, John Hatcher, and brother, Wilton Lynn (Belinda) Sherman.

J.P. is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rebecca St. John Sherman, daughter Cristy (Jeff) Trehern, son, Tony (Andrea) Sherman, and daughter, Amy (Waylon) Loper. His greatest joys in life, his grandchildren, Mason (Raena) Dambrino, Trace (Tiffany) Dambrino, Eric (Melanie) Dambrino, River Dambrino, Tristan Trehern, Garret Bullock, Preslyn Sherman, Ava Loper, Allie Loper, and Beckett Loper, and great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Cooper.

The family would like to give special thanks to Deaconess Hospice and Infinity Funeral Home for their compassionate care during this time. Also, we are overwhelmed with the love, prayers, and support of our family, friends, churches, and community.

Funeral services for Bro. J.P. will be held at his former church, Extended Hands Assembly of God located at 16427 Shaw Rd.in Gulfport, MS, on Friday, October 29, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. Procession to follow to Carter’s Cemetery, Section Line Rd. in Lucedale, MS. Services will also be live streamed on his personal facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=10000513991327.
