Mr. Robert Earl Howell, 82, a resident of Gulfport, MS, passed away, May 13, 2014 with his family at his side. He was born in Magee, MS, August 22, 1931, the son of Al and Zera Howell. Robert retired from his job on the pier with the International Longshoreman Association, Lodge 1303. Robert was also a skillful carpenter and was willing to help anyone he could. Robert was married to Susie Howell on November 8, 1986. He spent his leisure time working in his garden where he grew a variety of vegetables or in the yard planting citrus trees. Robert will most be remembered for his beautiful rose bushes. He also loved quite moments with his beloved animals. Robert was preceded in death by one great grandson, Brian C. White Jr. and one granddaughter, Trinette Wilson, three brothers, O.Z. Howell, Albert (Jinnie) Howell and Tyman Howell. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Susie; one sister Alberdine Phiffer of Los Angeles, CA., four sons, Thomas C. Howell (Tina), James Howell (Consuela), Charles Howell and James McInnis and eight daughters; Barbara Ann McBride (Howard), Debra Ann Lewis (Michael),Glenda Pritchett (Ronnie), Jessie Fae Howell, Vera Irvin, Linda McInnis (Curtis), Rita Pruitt and LaVeda Hawkins. Robert is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The family would like to say a special thank you to Robert�s caregivers, Mrs. Catherine Johnson and her family, Ray and Linda Culberson, Chrissy, Keyona, Joshua and close friend, Leroy Johnson for all that they did for him until the time of his final rest. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Gulfport at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior. The family has entrusted the care of Mr. Howell to the professional staff of Richmond-August Funeral Home.
