Robert Earl Lewis, Sr. age 81 was born June 22, 1932 in Biloxi, Mississippi, to John Earl Lewis and Lucy Janie Dukes. He passed away November 28, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Biloxi. A proud Veteran, Robert served his country with distinction as a Soldier and Civil Servant before retiring to pursue other interests. He was a licensed barber for more than 50 years and worked at Haynes Barbershop. Robert was an exceptional father. He reared five children, ranging in age from 1 � 11 years old, on his own. He was a perfect example of proper money management and achieved financial independence by being wise with regular salary. Robert loved jazz music and was a jazz drummer. He enjoyed wrestling and was a fan of the New Orleans Saints. Robert leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Robert Lewis, Jr. and Mark Lewis; two daughters, Latisha Lewis and Sandra Newsome; three sisters, Mozette Tancil, Dorothy Pendleton and Mary Lewis; eight grandchildren; a close niece, Maumiska Dacus; step daughter, Edna Evans; and a long-time friend, Hilton Ducre. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Greater Grace Apostolic Assembly in Biloxi, Mississippi. Mr. Lewis will lie in state from 10:00 � 11:00am with the funeral ceremony beginning at 11:00am.
