Sammie L."Hardtime" Carter, a resident of Gulfport, MS passed away March 23, 2014. Sammie was born July 17, 1952 in Hattiesburg, MS to the late Mr. Sam Carter, Sr. and Mrs. Annie Bell Carter. Sammie attended Harrison Central High School. He was united in matrimony on January 27, 2005 to Ms. Patricia Pittman. The couple have four children together; Stacy Pittman, Nicholas Pittman, Jacobi Pittman and Cordero Pittman. Sammie spent part of his working career as a brick mason. He was preceded in death by his parents Sam Carter Sr. and Annie Carter, also 2 brothers Clarence Carter and Sam Carter Jr. His aunt Queen Esther Williams Sammie is survived by his wife of nine years Patricia A. Pittman-Carter, one daughter, Stacy L. Pittman; three sons, Nicholas D. Pittman, Jacobi R. Pittman, and Prophet Cordero D. Pittman seven grandchildren, Rayshaun Pittman, Ravynn Pittman, Louis Gibson, Anthony Porter, Alani Pittman, Jacobi Pittman Jr., and Kourtni Pittman; two sisters Dorothy Carter and Shirley Carter; two brothers, Fred Carter and Johnny Carter and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, friends and family Services for Mr. Sammie L. Carter will begin at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour before on Friday, April 4, 2014 at People's Mission Baptist Church; 5101 Arkansas Avenue in Gulfport, MS.
