Mrs. Shirley Virginia Magee McKelphin was born March 26, 1955 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Leile Brock and Ray Magee. She departed this life on Saturday, December 6, 2014 in Gulfport, Mississippi. Shirley attended J.J. Gullege High School. Later in life, she began her career as a multi-craft employee. She also worked as a housekeeper and a cook at the Holiday Inn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Henry McKelphin, Sr.; her daughter, Crystal Renee McKelphin, grandparents, Cora Brock and Sam Brock; one sister Christine Epps; brother, Willie Magee, granddaughter, Dierra McKelphin; a stepson, James Slocum, and two close friends, Len Elmer Slocum and S.W. Tyson. Shirley leaves to cherish her many memories eight children: Terry Raiford, Bridgette McKelphin, and Lee McKelphin, all of Tylertown, MS; Anthony McKelphin of McComb, MS, Maxine Swangian, Cora (Manuel) Heidelberg, Edith (Bo-Brock) Arrington, Etha (Sam-Bo) Magee and Carolean Smith; two brothers Robert Magee and Steven Brock; four sister-in-laws, Alphina and Thado Matthew of Chicago, IL, Arzie Joice and Alton Magee from Chicago, IL, Faye Simmons of Racine Wisconsin, Alice McKelphin of Kokomo, MS; 35 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, four special friends, Anita and Roy Shutes, Carolyn Smith and Louise Evans and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services for Mrs. McKelphin will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Greater Grace Apostolic Assembly, 394 Forest Avenue in Biloxi; with visitation one hour before. The family of Mrs. Shirley Virginia Magee McKelphin has entrusted her care to the professional staff of Richmond-August Funeral Home.
