Sonja S. Reed

Sonja Saban Reed, age 47, a resident of D'Iberville, Ms, passed away Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, in Loving, New Mexico where she was employed. Sonja was born in Biloxi, Ms. on July 27, 1970, the daughter of Hakim Rashid and Carolyn Ford Adside. Sonja attended Dukate Elementary (Biloxi), and Moss Point High School, where she graduated in 1988. Sonja attended Jackson State University and the University of Southern Miss before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1992, where she was stationed at Dulles Air Force Base as a naval photographer. Sonja worked for Cingular Wireless, O.S. Ms. Sonja later worked for AT&T in Covington, La. Sonja's love of travel led her to drive semi trucks for 14 years. Sonja has driven for Fed Ex, Walmart, US Express, and many other companies. Sonja was presently driving for On 3 Logistics in New Mexico. Sonja has driven to every state in the internal US, including Canada. Her hobbies were reading, spending time with family when she was home, and cooking seafood. Sonja was preceded in death by her father, Hakim Rashid; grandparents, Betty Ruth and Eddie Ford of Biloxi; Rev. James and Virginia Reed of Itta Bena: Tristan Moore, son; Sabree Rashid, Uncle. Sonja is survived by her mother, Carolyn Ford Adside; fiancee, Terry Haynes; a sister, Keisha Griffith; sons, Rion Gines and Rashaad Williams; A very special niece, Naomi Williams and nephew Jairus Griffith, aunts, Patience Harris and Sandra Singleton; cousins, Arnold Harris, Robert Harris, Donna Cooper, Ayo Singleton, Min. Kareem Singleton, Min Lashawn Singleton, Tammier Cooper, Cassandra Caston, Simone Woodson and many more relatives. Very special friends are Bobbie Williams, Darryl Stewart, Robert Hall, Andy Foster, Felix Gines, and Pastor Willie Adside. Funeral services for Sonja Reed will be held Saturday, March 4, 2018, at 12:00 noon at St Paul UMC, Biloxi, MS with visitation two hours before. The family of Ms. Sonjia S.
