Life and Legacy
Willye E. Chapman-Berry
Born on March 18, 1945, in Newton, Mississippi, to the late Hazel Leflore.
She was the oldest of fourteen siblings.
Willye graduated N.H. Pilate High School in 1964 (Newton, MS). Later she was employed at Keesler Air Force Base, where she remained 30 years until her retirement.
On March 18, 1998, she married Clyde H. Berry.
Willy was an active member of the Forrest Heights Missionary Baptist Church, where she attended faithfully. She was the superintendent of the Sunday School Ministry, Vice-President of the Mission Ministry, and a member of the Season Saint and Pastor’s Aide Ministry. When Willye wasn’t in church, she would devote her time to family and friends. She also was active in the community as a Harrison County elections poll worker.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, her mother, and son Hiram T. Chapman.
She leaves to cherish her memories a husband, Clyde H. Berry; her daughter, Tanya (Brian) Carroll; her son, Tony (Marcie) Chapman; a granddaughter, Moneta (Neta) Potts-Coleman; four grandsons, Kendrick Chapman, Kendall Chapman, Brian Carroll II, Jeremiah Chapman, and great-granddaughter, Kailani Wilborn, Six brothers, five sisters, two aunts, one uncle and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
