Winston Lloyd Gentles

Winston Lloyd Gentles, 91 years old, a resident of Gulfport Mississippi, passed away 4 May 2023 at the hospital.

He was born in Kingston Jamaica on 5 March 1932 the son of Kenneth George Gentles and Hilda Elizabeth Hope. Winston completed the 8th grade but learned all his electrical and wood work skills from older men in the neighborhood.  Winston was married to Dorcas Elaine Gentles, who worked at Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) for over 25 years as an Office Assistance.

Winston loved music and played at parties under the name “Black Swan”.   

Winston was preceded in death by his son - Barrington Gentles, mother Hilda Hope, father Kenneth Gentles, wife Elaine Gentles, brothers Leroy Gentles and Glastone Fredericks.

Winston is survived by a brother - Clive Paisley and 2 sisters - Marcia Laurenceau, and Valerie Gentles; Winston has 13 children – Pauline Thomas, Lloyd Gentles, Aston Gentles, Annette Miles, Pauline Singletary (Thomas), Ann-Marie Gentles, Paulette Patterson (Paul), Donette Gentles, Sophia Gentles, Michelle Gentles, Nadine Gentles, and Michael Gentles (Opal).  Winston has 47 grandchildren, 89 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Viewing and service 30 May 2023 at Infinity Church the Apostolic Assembly – 394 Forrest Ave, Biloxi, MS 39530, starting at 2:00 pm.  Home going service will be on Sunday 30 July 2023 at 11:00 Glad Tiding of the First Born, 17 Passage Ford Drive, Portmore St. Catherine – Jamaica.
